Without the use of Messi the Argentine's have been so reluctant to score. On target shots have been poorly cushioned. Shot off target are a total failure.

Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero, have fumbled, and after Agüero was injured, his replacement, Ezequiel Lavezzi, played poorly enough that he was substituted.

However, Ángel di María has emerged as a threat for Argentina and to relief off Lionel Messi. The ever running di María (who knows where he gets his energy) served as a star, a hope inducer and a national hero in the encounter with Switzerland. His late goal, a resultant of several efforts of tirelessly running, energy filled, re positioning to effect Messi and a remarkable synergy pushed through Argentina to the quarter finals. Its such efforts that led to Real Madrid Copa del Rey (Kings Cup) 10th achievement early this year.
